At The Saxophone Shoppe, we believe distance shouldn’t stand between your instrument and expert craftsmanship. While we are proudly based in the Hawke’s Bay region, we provide premium repair, maintenance, and servicing for musicians, students, and professionals all over New Zealand.
Shipping a musical instrument can feel daunting, but by following a few simple steps, you can ensure your pride and joy arrives safely at our workshop, ready for its transformation.
1. How to Safely Package Your Instrument for Transit
To ensure your instrument arrives in the exact same condition it left your home, please follow our safe-transit packaging guidelines:
Internal Protection: Securely wrap the instrument body, neck, and mouthpiece separately in bubble wrap beforeplacing them inside your hard case. This prevents the individual components from shifting or knocking together while in transit.
External Protection: Once your hard case is securely closed, completely wrap the outside of the case in several layers of bubble wrap, or place the case inside a sturdy, appropriately sized cardboard box with plenty of packing material to absorb shocks.
2. Booking Your Courier & Nationwide Shipping Options
Getting your instrument to us is easier and more affordable than you might think. We recommend using reputable nationwide networks like NZ Post Courier or Aramex.
Money-Saving Tip: One of the most cost-effective ways to ship items within New Zealand is using Trade Me’s "Book a Courier" service. You do not need to have sold an item on Trade Me to use this feature—anyone with an account can use it to book reliable courier pick-ups at competitive rates.

Please address your parcel to our workshop: The Saxophone Shoppe 12 Hudson Road, Flaxmere Hastings 4120
3. Keep Us in the Loop (Tracking)
Once you have booked your courier and sent the package on its way, please reply directly to your booking confirmation email with your tracking number. This allows us to monitor its journey and ensure someone is at the workshop ready to receive it the moment it arrives.
4. What Happens When Your Instrument Arrives?
We treat every instrument that enters our workshop with the utmost care. Here is what you can expect once it safely reaches us:
The Assessment: We conduct a thorough, 15-to-20-minute hands-on assessment of your instrument. We carefully evaluate its condition, identify any underlying issues, and note recommended repairs or servicing.
Upfront Transparent Pricing: Before any work begins, we will email you a comprehensive estimate of costs and a projected completion date. We never start work without your explicit confirmation and approval.
Turnaround Times: Our standard turnaround for repairs and general servicing is 5 to 10 business days, depending on the scope of the job. For advanced work—such as dent removal or complete overhauls—the process will take longer, which will be clearly detailed in your initial assessment email.
Return Shipping: Once our expert repairs are complete, we will carefully repackage your instrument for its journey home. The cost of return track-and-trace shipping will be calculated and conveniently added directly to your final invoice.
We accept instruments by post from anywhere in New Zealand. Simply book an appointment below. We'll assess your instrument, provide a clear quote, with a timeframe for the repair and have it back to you playing its best.
